Polish grindcore/death metal will either be one thing or the other, good or very chaotic and very bad. It is the former thankfully on this latest in a long line of releases by this band. Immediate comparisons come to the forefront to pioneers like Napalm Death and Terrorizer, especially as vocalist Lukasz Myszkowski has a ND Barney style and tone. Grindcore is never known for its epic length tracks, it is usually short sharp bursts of aggressive tight riffs, thundering drumming littered with blast beats. Antigama hit all of these pointers and develop this complete grindcore sound (that leans more towards death metal and latter Napalm Death). ‘E Conspectu’ is very straight forward grind and whilst I don’t confess to being the world foremost expert on this genre, I do like this approach. ‘The Law’ quickly follows, and again, I am drawn to those aforementioned forerunners. It sounds as if Antigama have a lot of heritage with very effective, vintage blast beats and many augmented crazy multi string chords, especially on the title track ‘Stop the Chaos’ that is rather relentless and has the potential to blow your mind when volume is involved plus the whole EP has an element of “spazz” about it…you will know what I mean when you hear it!
Antigama have returned with a very strong line up, and going back to their former label has worked dividends. Antigama may experiment on the closing instrumental track with noise and ambient music, but make no mistake, Antigama are vintage grindsters, they probably just don’t know it yet!
