Think Nile, think Immolation, think Morbid Angel and you will be on the right tracks with these Bulgarians, The Revenge Project. ‘Deceit – Demise’ is the fifth full length from these pulverising death metal beasts and it is full of intent from the outset.

‘Deceit – Demise’ opens with non-vocalised ‘Enter Oblivion’ and then launches into a rabid attack on your senses, death metal of the highest echelon. The Revenge Project has injected everything into this release. There are crushing riffs and beats a plenty, intricate and delicate guitar solos, maniacal and vicious vocals sat alongside rhythmic and flowing vocals.

The Revenge Project have honed their skills over a 19-year career and this has allowed the sound and structure to evolve into a multi layered and complex soul. The whole album traverses across differing terrain, dissecting it with thrashy blackened elements and all out crunching juggernauts of riffs and beats.

Kolev leads the troops with demanding and leading vocals throughout, again, these are mixed up with differing tempos and speed, at times they are venomous and vicious, at other times verging on melodic and cadenced. Articorse provides the pulse and vibration within the soul with an absolutely monumental and devastating bass line which sits alongside the drum beats of kustev with grace and unity. The six strings fretwork from Staffa and Deimoz is absolutely magical and intricate throughout, switching up the styles to accompany the vocals and thicker cores of the bass and drums persistently.

Highlights to be targeted have to be ‘A Moment Of Peace’ and the gargantuan ‘Unholy Soul’ with its diverse make up of destroying and slaughtering back bone to perfectly positioned guitar solos which show off the technicality and precision harboured in the closet of The Revenge Project.

This is masterful Death metal at its finest and is built around varying styles of workmanship which all culminates in a near perfect piece of arts and craft any band could be proud of.
