Does the thought of a 6 song EP of Status Quo songs covered by a German thrash metal band appeal to you?
What’s that you say? About as much as having your fingers slammed repeatedly in a car door?
Well that’s exactly what this record is. And respect to Godslave for having the brass balls to put this out.
Thing is, the covers are a bit too close to the originals for my liking. I’d have preferred something a bit more ‘thrashed up’ personally.
However, it is what it is and the band are clearly having a ton of fun blasting out some boogie rock classics like ‘Caroline’, ‘Little Lady’, ‘Is there A Better Way’, ‘Oh Baby’, ‘Too Far Gone’ and…wait for it….’Down Down’.
Actually ‘Is There A Better Way’ sounds really good with a very punky vibe to it. The rest sound….exactly like you think they would. And they sound even better when tanked up on cheap cider.
A good disc to spin at a party.
