BurningNot to be confused with the Chilean death metal band of the same name, this Burning Flesh are a Swiss / French 5 piece and ‘New Chaos Order’, their second album is the follow up to 2010’s debut, ‘Unconscious Deformity’

Kicking off with a little sound bite from everyone’s favourite war-mongering ass-clown George Bush, this leads straight into the bombastic ‘Riot’. Unrelentingly fast, riff driven and tighter than a freemason’s handshake this band clearly know their shit when it comes to penning some unbelievably precise, razor sharp songs. The dual guitars of Anthony Martin and Diego Graham create a viciously effective and elaborate assault which is both brutal and melodic. The tight rhythm section of Guillaume Lagger on bass and drummer Paul Sordet keep things nailed down and pounding along with metronomic accuracy, in fact Sordet’s drumming was a highlight for me. An incredible talent.

On ‘New Chaos Order’ Burning Flesh band hammer out twelve tracks of quality death metal brutality mixing in various influences such as Krisiun, Morbid Angel, Immolation and even a touch of early Sepultura.

The title track is, for me, the stand out song on this album. Some brilliant guitar work and pace changes coupled with a great vocal performance from Lionel Fontana (great name).

‘Scums’ is another hate filled belter with an addictive grinding groove that put a smile on my face. Burning Flesh certainly aren’t lacking in riffs and the songs show off enough technicality to keep things interesting (the CD has been in my car for a week now).

Solid, honest, very well played no frills death metal that should appeal to anyone that likes plenty of melodic barbarity. Good album!
