JehovaAnother short but sweet slab of vinyl from Gaphals, this time from a Stockholm based band called Jehovah Eyes. There is very little info on them that I can find and their Facebook page only has a few posts on it. One that it does include though is the video clip for the a) side of this record ‘Sitcom Freedom’ featuring a bad bunny and just over 2 minutes worth of catchy as hell ass-kick Swede a roll. There is a chunk of underlying stoner groove as this one melodically takes hold via a jagged guitar chord. Clean vocals have warmth about them and when the track takes off the catchiness of it is infectious. The chorus bayed whoop “awoo’ followed by the track title really gets you after the second or third repeat and by the second listen to the song you are going to find yourself singing along. I have no idea what the state of the Swedish charts is it really cannot be shittier than ours but this should be a real contender to hit the fringes and then go rising swiftly up as it catches on. Yep it does have a commercial appeal but the riff driven rock out fervour is one that can be easily enjoyed by us and them!

B) side ‘Living Dead Cities’, jangles in reminding a bit of Spizz classic ‘Is Vic There; melodically as it gallops off with a bit of a post punk gloom about it and again proves catchy as hell with some fluttering Bauhausian guitar effects and a bit of a garage rock jammed out feel. On the strength of these 2 tracks, all 4 minutes worth of music, I am left hungering for a whole lot more and hope there is an album at some point in the future going to hit and give me more of a picture of this intriguing band.
