GongaBristol in the UK is the base for these fuzzed out stoner doom instrumentalists, this is their third release and totally instrumental. Hence, with this in mind, I first spun this disc laid out on the floor with a nice cold one next to me. The results were cool the experimentations that the band play are pretty cool; it is as they say a nice psychedelic soundtrack.

From the opener ‘Miasma’ you can tell this is British, there is just something in the sound, occasional doom passages remind me of both Black Magician and Serpent Venom right through to the Karma to Burn/Atomic Bitchwax grooves that filter through during this 10 plus minute epic. Without the presence of vocals I find it slightly irrelevant to pick out individual tracks, there is a consistent theme running though the release which is positive although I would definitely score higher with the inclusion of vocals as the music has so much of a vibe, one can only imagine the potential and lyrical content. Why not try to add you own? I did, epic fail ha ha! However something like ‘Another Day Gone’ will have you thinking of Kyuss jamming with Sabbath’s ‘Killing Yourself to Live’ which cannot be a bad thing as the guitar tone has that echo/reverb effect which sounds very wholesome.

The best option for this band and release is to find a comfy place; sit back and bask in the near psychedelic stoner doom tones that this band produces. This is a cool instrumental release which will come out on vinyl and as a nice bonus the CD is pressed to look like a record too. This is another band to add to the great wealth of UK talent on offer within this genre.
