OB-GD17O2-001.pdfIn the corner of Ave Noctum that is forever punk, alongside the fine Selfless album we have this split from globally distant bands Debacle and Inebrious Bastard, with their members mentioning Melbourne, Sydney and the odd member from the UK’s Leech Woman. Seven songs, no let up as we head down the politically fueled crust/grind route, just taking a slightly different branch for each. And all on a Sydney based DIY non-profit label.

First up, Debacle have a downtuned, bass rumble of a grind. Starting deathly sludge like slow they suddenly steamroller ‘Faithless’ before really letting rip into the punked up grind of the glorious ‘Weeds’ which mangles metal guitar too. They depart with the grind blink of ‘Narrow Minds’ and leave me wanting more to work off the aggression! Nice nasty blast of punk grind indeed.

Inebrious Bastards aren’t a million miles apart, heading hard into the grind with maybe a heavier emphasis in the drums and a touch of almost deathgrind with ‘Withered Lives’ . Barked vocals eventually turn up on ‘Race Ignorance’ and the hardcore tinge screams its anger. Fuck off racist scum, indeed. ‘Keep You In Fear’ has a great buzzsaw guitar sound that just rips along. ‘No Right To Slaughter’ pumells what’s left of me and the violence  ends.

Fine sound, two great bands doing a job on your ears and pricking your awareness. Debacle maybe edge it here for me dimly down to Weeds, but frankly it’s a Rizla difference between them. Very much spot on really to both bands. Get it.
