Sanguine have been very active on the live front, I have not caught them myself but they have played as support band to plenty of big hitting acts and festivals as diverse as Ibiza Hard Rock Hell and Download (one can only guess the weather favoured them better at the former). This EP showcases the bands talents and is available only via the group’s website it would seem, although you get the added bonus of having it signed if you order it there.

The ‘live’ side of things is not strictly live recordings from the stage (although two of the tracks do have crowd cheers) but also live in the studio. The tracks are in two very distinct styles, the first two being full on songs, metal to the hilt with incredibly venomous vocal screams from singer Tarin Kerrey, seriously it sounds like someone has dropped a crushing lead weight on her foot when she unleashes things at full capacity and they must take the audiences heads off playing these numbers live. The other three tracks are much slower and on the whole more acoustic ballad etched numbers, apparently the band played the acoustic Jager stage at Download and you can easily see why with tracks like these.

Both sides of the group are quite good and although certainly too Kerrang and Scuzz TV sounding for my tastes I can see the appeal and if I wandered past them playing live I would stick around and no doubt end up watching the whole set. I think I am more in favour of them at their most vitriolic and ‘Simplify’ and ‘Bangkok Nights’ are neck snapping, catchy and powerful numbers with the singer really staking her claim at giving the likes of Tairrie B and Alissa White-Gluz a run for their money. As for the lighter tracks ‘Days Outnumbered’ struck a chord albeit one that was nu-metal flavoured.

If you want a taste and favour trying before you part with your mullah you can download the EP for free at the link below.
